What’s your favorite music video?

Is it Justin Timberlake’s new James Bond-ish “SexyBack” or the classic “Thriller” from the King of Pop? Personally, I like the animated music videos from the “Gorillaz” or anything from “OK Go“.

Music videos really started gaining attention in the 1980s due to the birth of MTV. Creative boundaries are being pushed, more money is being spent, and renown Hollywood directors (such as Tim Burton, who is slated to direct a “Killers” music video) are helming the projects because today, a solid music video can do wonders to an artist’s career.

Stream a sweet selection of music videos from Warner Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment for free here on Google Video today. And soon, stream all videos from Warner Music and Sony BMG for free. Find your favorites and don’t forget to share.

New Feature: Advanced Video Search

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

“Please, sir, I want some more.”

And more you shall have. Today I’m happy to introduce yet another goody - Advanced Video Search! Advanced Video Search allows you to find videos that contain all, some, or none of the words you specify. This feature also lets you filter your results by video duration, price, and specific genre such as Anime & Animation, Political, and Romance. You also get to decide how you’d like to sort your results, whether it be by Relevance, Title, or Date. So go ahead, be advanced and set your search standards.

New Feature: Choose Your Audience with Unlisted Videos

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

You asked and we answered. With our newest feature, unlisted videos, you can upload videos without making them publicly available in the Google Video search results and share them with only those people you want to see them.

Are you a proud new mom and dad? Maybe you want to share a video of the newest addition to your family with grandparents who live an ocean away.

Or maybe your college roommate’s rendition of “It’s Raining Men” was absolutely historic, but he’d hunt you down and destroy you if you shared the video with the world.

Or it could be that you’re an up-and-coming filmmaker who doesn’t want those Hollywood sharks stealing your original screenplay before you get an agent.

Now, for all of the above instances, you can just unlist your video and share the link only with the people you trust.

Unlisting videos is easy. All you have to do is check the “Unlisted” option when uploading your video(s) at http://video.google.com/videouploadform. You’ll then get a unique URL that you can email to anyone you want - and no one else.

Introducing the Google Horror Video Show!

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Today we’re introducing the Google Horror Video Show! In honor of a very scary holiday that’s just around the corner, we want you to help us find the most horrifying video on Google Video. It could be the type of frightening that makes us laugh-out-loud or the type of scary that makes goosebumps dance around on our skin.

Here are the instructions if you’d like to participate in the Google Horror Video Show:

1. Visit Google Video and search for the best horror video under 2 minutes.*

2. Use the “Send to a friend” feature and email the video to us at horrorvideos@google.com by Friday, October 13th. Nominate as many videos as you want!

3. We’ll link to the submissions through the Google Video Blog starting October 16th.

4. Vote for your favorite by rating each video!

5. On Halloween, we’ll announce the most popular Horror videos on Google Video chosen by you - the audience!

* Not satisfied with what you find? Think you can make a more frightening flick? Upload your original videos here and send the link to us at horrorvideos@google.com. Nominate your own video and see what happens!

And just to get you started… here are our picks:

Click here to watch “Ghost Car”
This is a car advertisement from New Zealand. When they finished filming the ad, the people who made it noticed a ghostly white mist moving along the side of the car, and an eerie sound… you may need to turn the volume up, enough to hear it. The ad was never put on TV because of the unexplained ghostly phenomenon. About halfway, as the car goes past the trees, look and you will see the white mist crossing in front of the car then following it along the road……Spooky
